Happy International Women's Day!

Globally, we're celebrating the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day today. This event recognizes that securing peace, social progress and the enjoyment of human rights requires the active participation of women. It also acknowledges women's contribution to the strengthening peace and security.

Right now, I am in great awe reflecting how women took part, contributed and still are getting involved on issues affecting all of us. For the women of the world, this day's symbolism has a broader significance; it doesn't only give us the opportunity to unite and mobilize for a meaningful change, but also review how far women have come in their struggle for equality, development and peace.

Many strong and visionary women like Dorothy Metcalf, Marie Bohlen and Zoe Hunter helped bring Greenpeace to life in the early years of it's campaigning. And today, there's still a lot of women who keeps the fire burning securing peace and equality for everyone. In our office, it's quite wonderful to know that a good number of women are leading change for a greener and peaceful future.
