Scripture Bits: to pay or not to pay

"Christ is useless to you if you are counting on clearing your debt to God by keeping those laws; you are lost from God's grace."

-GALATIANS 5:4

Sometimes it's easier to feel like we can earn God's love and acceptance. After all, if He gives it to us for free, we don't feel like we've paid our dues. No matter what feels good to us, though, we can never be good enough or perfect enough to really deserve God's approval. Getting it for free, out of His grace, is the only way we're ever going to get it.
