metro+sexual=?

the very first time i became aware of the term "metrosexual" was when i read a feature article in a well-known broadsheet. i love reading odd articles so when my eyes reached that article, i started to go over it.
when i was still dumb of the term, i thought that the term "metrosexual" was just a juxtaposition of the root words "metro" (which refers to the railway transportation system in the great cities of the world) and "sexual." so my perception about the word "metrosexual" sounds like a pervert who gets his sexual kicks on the metro-rail or subway!!! Heh heh heh!!!
i already read Mark Simpson's article "Meet The Metrosexual" and from there, he defined the word. the metrosexual is an urban male who embodies vanity; keeps up with the latest fashion; gets waxes, trims, manicures and pedicures; has his hair just so; goes to the gym everyday; and spends his money on his aesthetics and lifestyle. he no longer uses gel and aftershave; he uses hair cosmetics, and sometimes three or four designer labels simultaneously. (whew!!! it's the kind of guy i really hate!!! ayoko nga ng boyfriend na mas maarte pa sa 'ken!)
okay, going back, is this just a passing fad or is the metrosexual a new excuse for closet gays the world over???
some guys are beginning to understand that they can catch more hot dates with slavishly good grooming, etiquette, and style. metrosexual fashion and grooming undoubtedly rises up. woah!!! give me a break!!!
there was a time when i met an apparently perfect specimen. he was attractive, sensitive, ARTICULATE, CULTURED, funny, and smart. he had a style, had flawless skin, and SMELLED BETTER THAN I DID!!! the first question that ever popped into my nutty head was NOT, "Is he dating somebody?" rather, it was, "IS HE GAY???" and since i am totally clueless to either question, i came to a realization many others already realized before i did: GUYS ARE LIKE PARKING SPACES. ALL THE GOOD ONES ARE ALREADY TAKEN, AND THE AVAILABLE ONES ARE DEFINITELY NOT FOR ME.
